Born in Romford, Essex, UK, Liz Spencer graduated with a BA of Fine Arts from the university of East London.Liz Spencer’s work explores the connection between emotion and memory to demonstrate how life and time are a continuous flow - a date in time, a fleeting moment of life, a random memory or emotion shared and disregarded. Her work questions our perspective and experience of reality and the power of memory.
Working in mixed media, alone or as part of her installations, Liz’s work restages the perspective on situations, often infusing them with a certain surreal quality to emphasise an absurdity of everyday life or something uncanny within the familiar.
Some recurrent themes can be identified in Liz Spencer's work: questions about memory in general; how memory affects our view on reality; and the individual acts of remembering a fleeting moment of life.
